Minnesang und politische Spruchdichtung

Walther ist auch heute noch der bekannsteste Dichter des deutschen Mittelalters. Wie kein anderer verwirklichte er in seinen Versen vor allem sich selbst.

Wer war er, dieser „Berufsdichter ohne festen Wohnsitz“, der sich in der Mitte seines Lebens vom Minnesang abwandte und fortan mit gleicher Leidenschaft politische Sprüche fertigte?

Michael Dollendorf erhielt seine musikalische Ausbildung an der University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Danach war er Mitglied renomierter Ensembles: Les Arts Florissants in Paris, Smithsonian Chamber Players in Washington D. C., Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco.

An der Universität Bonn studierte er Alt-Anglistik bei Karl Reichl und Alt-Germanistik bei Manfred Kaempfert, Christoph Cormeau und Monika Unzeitig. Seit vielen Jahren beschäftigt er sich mit den Traditionen mündlicher Überlieferung. Seine Programme sind erzählte Geschichten in Althochdeutsch, Mittelhochdeutsch, Gotisch, Altsächsisch, Altenglisch, Mittelenglisch und Okzitanisch.

Im Mittelpunkt seiner Arbeit stehen germanische Heldenlieder, französische Troubadourlyrik und die Werke der deutschen Minnesänger Walther von der Vogelweide, Neidhart von Reuental und Oswald von Wolkenstein.

Er begleitet sich selber auf Harfe, Leier, Lyra, Fiedel und Symphonia und Organistrum.
